"French restaurant is quite a find ... Fine dining is a
short hop away ... French natives Chef William Severac and his wife, Muriel, run this
culinary find. Chef Severac had worked in Jensen Beach, Fla., before heading north with
his family this winter. Before coming to the United States in 1997, he was Chef de
Cuisine at restaurants in Sainte Maxime, Saint Tropez, Courchevel, Grimaud, Porto-Vechio
and Paris. He is a graduate of Carcassone Culinary College. Muriel runs the
front end of the operation.

"This could be a restaurant along a country road in
France ... It isn't France, of course. It's Hopwood, PA., and we're at Chez Gerard,
the authentic little French restaurant that put this Fayette County town on the
fine-dining map ... The star of the menu at Chez Gerard is the cheese course. It varies,
but it's always good French cheese, about 14 different kinds in all. Outside France,
I've never seen such an array of fine cheeses ... Presidential cocktails at Chez Gerard
are named for the seven American presidents who stayed there when it was known as the
Hopwood House"
